Here's how ...
 
1 - ADMINISTRATIVE FEE
 
You must fill out our " MECHANICAL LICENSE REQUEST FORM ", which will give us all the necessary information with regards to
your status as a producer, as well as to your product. The list of titles, with the names of the original rightholders (authors, composers and publishers), performer and timing of each work must also be enclosed.
 
These fees are for each title and determining which titles are represented by SODRAC from those who are not, and, in some cases, which shareholders are not represented by SODRAC.
 
For the shares we do not represent, we will, as information will allow, give you the addresses of the shareholders so that you may obtain a license from them directly.
 
Administrative fees are as follows:
 
  • $25.00 per request (plus taxes)
    (Please take note that these fees are neither returnable nor deductible on future licensing fees)
     

    • A cheque covering these fees must acompany your license request. Please take note that these fees are applicable on all titles, even those for which you cannot identify the shareholders and/or performer; these fees are neither reimbursable nor deductible on future licensing fees.

    2 - LICENSE REQUEST
     
    Minimum Licensing Fee :
     
    An amount of $50 (plus taxes) must be included with your license request along with your analysis fee. This amount is the minimum required for any producer regardless of the number of titles requested. You must also include a copy of your pressing order.
     
    Following our analysis, we will provide you with a statement (see below).
     
    In the event that no titles are represented by SODRAC, the $50 (plus taxes) fee will be fully reimbursed.
     
    Statement :
     
    Once the work analysis is completed and the cheque covering the minimum licensing fee is received, a statement will be sent to you indicating whether your payment is complete or whether there is an amount outstanding. The applicable rate until December 31 2005 is $0.091 per musical work of 5 minutes or less ($0.0182 per additionnal minute).
     
    It is only upon full payment that your licenses will be issued. Upon reception , the licenses must be signed and one copy returned to us.
     
    IMPORTANT NOTE TO REMEMBER : royalties are subjected to adjustement to the current rate at the beginning of each calendar year; therefore, when time comes for a new license request, please contact us so that we may keep you updated on the current royalty rate.
