AND/OR KARAOKE Need a license ? Here's how ....... 1 -TITLE LIST ANALYSIS FEE The list of titles for which you need to obtain a reproduction authorization for MIDI-FILE and/or KARAOKE must be sent to SODRAC, along with a cheque equivalent to two dollars (2$) per title (plus taxes). These fees cover the research we must undertake to identify the authors/composers and publishers of the works, as well as the percentage of the rights we represent. SODRAC will analyze the titles submitted; you will be informed, as to which titles we represent and those for which we cannot issue a license. In the latter case, information as to how to reach the shareholders will be included, to the extent of our knowledge. 2 -LICENSING Once your license request will have been studied, the person in charge of your file will contact you to let you know the amount that must be remitted as a deposit before we issue the licenses. This deposit is evaluated, among other things, according to the number of works represented by SODRAC; it is deductible from your upcoming sales reports. Upon reception of the deposit, SODRAC will issue licenses (valid for one (1) year from the release date of the product) for each of the titles we represent. The cost of the licenses, and thus the amount due, is ten per cent (10%) of the suggested retail price for each copy sold. The licenses can be renewed once they've expired provided that sales reports are submitted for each title and paid for within thirty (30) days following the end of each quarter. 3 -SHOULD THE LYRICS AND/OR MUSIC BE PRINTED ON PAPER OR APPEAR ON A COMPUTER SCREEN ... Please note that it is not SODRAC's mandate to authorize graphic reproduction. To make matters simpler for both the producer and publisher, we will attempt to bring this issue to the publishers' attention; until then, whenever your project involves the printing of lyrics and/or music on paper or should they appear on a computer screen, you must obtain the publisher's written authorization. |
