SODRAC is a collective management society within the meaning of the Copyright Act. It grants licences for all reproductions
of musical and artworks. SODRAC represents authors, composers, music publishers and creators and co-creators of artistic works.
Our society also represents heirs of rights, titles and interests in a work following an author’s death. |
Reproduction rights are one component of copyright. Copyright, which is conferred on individual rights holders in accordance with
the Copyright Act, enables these individuals to control the recording and reproduction of musical and artworks on any physical
audio or audiovisual media (e.g., compact discs, videocassettes, DVDs), in addition to new-technology media (e.g., downloads, streaming,
ringtones, video on demand).
SODRAC is a member of the International Confederation of Authors and Composers Societies (CISAC),
which represents authors societies in all disciplines, and the International Office for Mechanical Reproduction Rights (BIEM),
which represents management societies working in the area of musical reproduction rights. |
